Week 35

August 24th- Rest

My body is pretty sore from hiking, so today was a much needed rest and stretch day.

August 25th- 15 minute abs

While still somewhat sore, Alex and I pushed ourselves to work out tonight. It was a little slower of a pace but it felt good to get back into it and start getting back on a routine.

Week 34

August 17th- 20 minute abs

August 18th- 2.01 mile run through Ballard

As our backpacking trip draws closer, we have been easing back a little on our workout intensity. We don’t want to be sore for our trip and are keeping this in mind as we workout this week,

August 19th- 15 minute ab workout

August 20th- 4 mile hike up to Colchuck Lake

Today we headed over to Leavenworth where we will spend the next 4 days camping and hiking. I’m so excited and can’t wait to see what all the hype about the Enchantments is about! Our bags are packed and we are ready to meet up with the rest of our group and enjoy our backpacking / camping / hiking vacation!

August 21st- 8.65 mile hike through The Enchantments

Today we made our way from our campsite at Colchuck lake up through Aasgard Pass, and through The Enchantments to Lake Perfection. Overall it was a harder hike than I expected, but totally worth it! It took us 8.5 hours to complete and we gained 3,627 feet in elevation. It was a lot of fun and I am excited to talk more about it in my Enchantments hiking post!

August 22nd- Colchuck lake to Stuart Lake

Today we hiked about 9 miles in total down from Colchuck lake to Stuart lake. Here was soaked up the sun, ate some lunch, and headed back to Colchuck lake to swim. It was a great day for an easier hike, as we were all fairly sore from Aasgard the day before.

August 23rd- 4 mile hike down from Colchuck lake

Today was our last day camping / hiking. We woke up, packed up, and headed down the mountain towards Leavenworth. We ended the hike with lunch in Leavenworth then headed home to Seattle to get ready for work tomorrow. Sad the trip is over, but can’t wait to reminisce and write about a blog post about it!

August

Can you believe we are already in August? It seems like time had stood still since the end of March when this whole virus and quarantine situation started. I am really proud of Alex and I and how much we have pushed ourselves to workout during this pandemic. Now being about 5 months into this new way of living our nightly routine always consists of at least a 20 minute workout. While we may not being doing the same types of workouts we push and hold each other accountable. It feels great having a workout buddy (and sometimes running buddy!) to help motivate and push you to better yourself.

With all this being said, I think it’s still really important to set some goals for this month:

  1. Continue with the whole food plant based diet
  2. Hydrate
  3. Keep running at least 2 times a week (if not more)
  4. Really focus on training for the Enchantments backpacking trip starting August 20th

Week 32

August 3rd- 20 HIIT

August 4th- 40 minute ab workout

Tonight I tried out one of Mad Fit’s abs workout videos and like it so much I decided to play the entire video through twice! It felt great to really tone my abs and sweat. These workouts are the best after a long day of work and not having the gyms open. Her at home workouts have saved my life during quarantine.

August 5th- 3 mile run through Ballard

August 6th- 10 minute abs

Tonight I would count as more of rest night, but I did manage to squeeze in a short 10 minute ab workout. While it wasn’t much, it felt good to get at least a quick little workout in versus doing nothing at all.

August 7th- Rest

August 8th- Rest

August 9th- 3.5 mile run to Golden Gardens

This morning Alex and I decided to do a longer running route since we haven’t worked out in a few days… This route was a lot of run and definitely longer than our normal runs. We ran some of the Burke Gilman trail down to Golden Gardens and back. It was super warm out and a great way to start our Sunday morning!

Week 30

July 20th- 20 minute abs

July 21st- 6 mile Green Lake walk

After work I met up with a close friend of mine to walk Green Lake and catch up. We ended up going around the entire lake once and weren’t ready to call it a night. We ended up walking around it again and caught up on each others lives. It was really nice to get out and be social again!

July 22nd- 15 minute abs

July 23rd- Rest

July 24th- Rest

July 25th- 3.1 mile run

Today Alex and I ran the Lower Woodland 5k course. It felt good to run this old course, but was a bit more challenging than I remembered. It was a great way to get a hill workout in as well as distance.

July 26th- Volleyball at the park

Tonight Alex and I met up with a few friends to play volleyball! It’s been a few years since playing, but it didn’t take long for me to pick it up again. We had a lot of fun. It felt great to play and be social again. Hopefully these Sunday volleyball games become the norm for us!

Week 29

July 13th- 25 minute abs and arms

July 14th- 3 mile run

Alex and I got a run in tonight. As we train for the Enchantments at the end of August I think we are both realizing how much running and cardio workouts will pay off. I know I felt really refreshed after this run and am already looking forward to the next one. I was in a rut of not running from lack of motivation and not really having many go to running routes. Now having my running buddy back (at least until August) it is really exciting and I really look forward to running together.

July 15th- Rest

I decided to take my rest day mid week. With having to get up early for a conference call this morning and it being super sunny and almost 80 degrees out I spent my time soaking up the sun on our roof top lounge with Alex. It felt so good to spend time outside and catch up on each others day. It’s so easy to fall into the same routine when living with someone, so it was nice to break that routine today and really just enjoy each others company. We made some plans to hike Mt. Si this weekend! Super pumped to get out on the trails and get a different kind of workout in.

July 16th- 25 minute abs and arms

July 17th- 20 minute abs

July 18th- Mount Si Hike

Today Alex and I got up at 4:30 this morning to hike Mt. Si! For our first hike in awhile this was a hard one! The elevation gain is crazy and my legs felt like jello once we got back to the car. I’m hoping to post soon about it, but having free time is hard to come by these days 🙂

July 19th- Rest

I am SO sore from our hike yesterday! It hurts to walk – which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. With my legs and butt being so stiff and sore I decided to take another rest day this week and give my body some time to recover.

Week 31

July 27th- 20 minute abs

This workout was HARD! I’m pretty sore from playing volleyball yesterday so trying to get motivated and do this workout was a challenge. I pushed through, but it was really challenging to stay motivated and not give up with my already sore muscles becoming even more sore.

July 28th- 20 minute abs

July 29th- 2.9 mile run

Alex and I ran through Ballard tonight and caught the sunset! It was beautiful out and fairly warm. The sky was a pretty purple / pink color, giving us something different to look at while we ran. It felt good to end our day with a run!

July 30th- 20 minute abs

July 31st- Rest

August 1st – Abs

August 2nd- 2.21 mile run

Today we decided to run through the neighborhoods in Ballard. It was a nice change in scenery and a lot more quite than running down Market St. I’m excited to continue exploring this area on our runs!
